The Making of Celestial Phantom

Celestial Phantom takes its name and design inspiration from the configuration of stars on the night Phantom was first unveiled. This Bespoke Rolls-Royce motor car is a romantic commemoration of a decade of craftsmanship.

Celestial Phantom Celebrates Craftsmanship

A truly unique car, Celestial Phantom encapsulates the spirit of 1 January 2003 when – at midnight – the new Phantom was revealed and handed over to its owner, at the Home of Rolls-Royce. Celestial Phantom celebrates the beauty of craftsmanship and is recognised as the most exclusive Bespoke Rolls-Royce ever created.

The roof’s lining features over 1,000 hand-woven fibre optic lights, representing the star-filled sky exactly as it was in Goodwood on that historic night. Adorning the door-cappings, centre console lid and partition wall are 446 diamonds. Precisely hand-set. The exterior colour evokes the night sky by integrating fine glass particles into the paint to achieve an alluring sense of both depth and light. And the starry night theme continues inside with dusky fine leather upholstery.

Celestial Phantom was destined to shine

Each detail has been perfected to create a luxurious one-off design: from the subtly uplit Spirit of Ecstasy to the clock featuring four stunning diamonds. The glassware in the picnic set has a hand-engraved celestial motif. Complementing the plates that renowned porcelain-maker Nymphenburg has created with representations of the constellations.

The history and creation of Celestial Phantom are as fascinating as the finished motor car itself – captured in the UK's Channel 4 documentary, Inside Rolls-Royce – and that also reveals the extraordinary lengths our dedicated and passionate team go to while creating the world’s finest motor cars. Giving viewers a rare insight into the striving for perfection that informs every part of this remarkable British manufacturing success story.

When Celestial Phantom was first unveiled in 2013 – making its debut at the Frankfurt IAA, then taking centre stage at the Dubai International Motor Show – the public were left awe-struck. With its starry night inspiration, Celestial Phantom was always destined to shine.
